12 March 2020- Public Warning: Car Park Scam Operating in Bracknell

Public Warning: Car Park Scam Operating in Bracknell on 12th March 2020.

We have received a report from a resident who has been scammed behind the banks in Bracknell earlier today. A male with ‘Link car park attendant’ on his clothing was standing by the 'pay for parking' machine and advised the customer that there was a problem with the payment machine and offered assistance.

Subsequently the machine swallowed his card (the card it seems went into a device the scammer had placed in the card slot previously) the customer later realised that £1k pounds had been taken out of his bank account.

The customer called Saba (car park contractors) as he now realised this hadn't been one of their staff and to make them aware – Saba contract manager has advised all staff to be particularly vigilant.

The police have been informed. Description of the male posing as a car park attendant was of Asian origin wearing black scarf partly covering his face and dark clothing.

Please share this and let others know about this car park scam. Although this took part in Bracknell today we are aware of this also taking place in Windsor in recent months. Please be vigilant.
