Register a hairdresser or barber business

Application to register 

To run a hairdressing business you may need to register with your local council and comply with local health and safety rules. Anyone carrying on the business of hairdressing needs to apply unless they are only carrying out hairdressing to persons employed at the premises.

Fees

The registration fee is £33.50  

Application process

A certificate will be sent to you to confirm the registration. You must have a copy of the certificate and copies of the byelaws of your local authority displayed in your premises. Once registered, you do not need to apply again, however each year you must supply an up-to-date list of persons working at the premises and any changes to business practices carried out.

How long will it take my application to process?

We aim to process your application within 28 days of receiving it. If you have not heard from us by the end of this period, please contact Licensing@bracknell-forest.gov.uk

Appeals

Please contact us first. Any applicant who is refused a registration or wants to object to a condition on the licence can appeal to their local magistrates' court within 21 days of receiving notice of the decision.

There is no fee for this registration.
