Bracknell Forest Council wants your views on the proposed changes to hackney carriage and private hire vehicles and private hire operator’s fees.
The Licensing Authority has launched a new consultation seeking comments on proposed changes to the existing taxi vehicle fees and operators are charged for their licences in accordance with Section 70 (1) of the Local Government (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976
The consultation seeks input from businesses, residents, the taxi trade, taxi users, community organisations and any other people with an interest in these matters. Interested parties are invited to provide their views on the 3% increase in these fees for the 2025/26 financial year.
The increase would see the current fee for a new taxi vehicle licence increase from £301.50 per year to £310.50 and from £268 to £276 when renewing a licence. An operator with five vehicles would see their annual fee increase from £837.50 to £862.50
Councillor Cherise Welch, the Chair of the Licensing and Safety Committee said “The Council is committed to an open and transparent decision-making process and we welcome engagement and discussion with relevant parties through the consultation. The increase is needed to cover the additional costs of running this service. If agreed the new fees will come into effect on the 01 April 2025.”
The consultation which can be found here: Consultations - PPP will run from the 30 October to 27 November 2024 and we aim to publish the outcome of the consultation by the 28 November 2024.
Paper copies of the consultation are available. To request one, please phone 01635 519045 or email pppconsultations@westberks.gov.uk
