5th August 2021 - Henley Royal Regatta – 11th to 15th August 2021

Henley Royal Regatta – 11th to 15th August 2021

Wokingham Borough Council’s Public Protection Service and Meradin Peachey, Director of Public Health for Berkshire West, said: “We encourage all members of the community taking part in the Regatta to continue to exercise caution while they are enjoying this event.”

“Covid-19 has not gone away: we are still in a pandemic and infection rates are still high. So please take sensible steps such as maintaining social distancing, washing your hands regularly and using lateral flow tests before attending to keep everyone safe.”

The Public Protection Service and Organisers would like people to be aware:

  • This year will not be a ‘normal Regatta’
  • Due to COVID planning and the Regatta being held in August there are far fewer public facilities this year and none in some places such as Remenham Farm and The Start.
  • The Mahiki and Upper Thames Rowing Club enclosures are operating as usual but to guarantee entry, please purchase a ticket in advance.
  • If you aren’t attending you can watch the action live on YouTube.
  • Please note there will be limited provision of public facilities, including public toilets, outside of the ticketed areas and enclosures.
  • Camping and parking facilities are very limited so please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
  • The Henley area is likely to be very busy so please be considerate to others - COVID is still presents a risk and has not gone away.
  • Each ticketed facility will have its own COVID 19 policies so please check in advance.
  • The official HRR facilities will require all attendees to show proof of COVID status.
  • People displaying symptoms of Covid should not attend the event under any circumstances

Officers from the Public Protection Partnership and key partners including the Council’s Highways and Waste Teams, Thames Valley Police, South Central Ambulance and Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service have been working with organisers ahead of the event to ensure that steps have been taken to comply with the rules covering this type of event and any relevant government guidance are being adhered to. Staff from the Public Protection Service and partners will be on site at various times throughout the event.
