Overladen Vehicle Checks Discover One Vehicle 105% Over The Weight LimitÂ
Our Trading Standards officers undertook a routine patrol with Thames Valley Police last month to check for overweight vehicles. Potential overloaded goods vehicles were identified, stopped, and directed to a weighbridge.
One vehicle was a 105% overladen, the largest our officers have ever encountered.
Overweight vehicles not only cause damage to roads but also having an overweight vehicle affects a driver's efficiency to break and steer, therefore putting themselves and other road users at risk.
The driver of these vehicles as well as the businesses are liable for these offences. If your vehicle is seen breaching a weight restriction or it is found to be overloaded, you may be prosecuted. Our officers and Thames Valley Police are now proceeding with their enquiries with regards to the drivers found to be breaching their vehicle weight during this operation.
