Public Protection Partnership asks for public’s help in identifying deceased pony after disturbing discovery
The Public Protection Partnership is requesting the help of the public in identifying a dead pony dumped on the side of the road in Lovell Lane, Winkfield. The pony was discovered by a member of the public on 26th January, possibly disposed of overnight on the 25th. We’re urging any members of the public who may have been in the area and saw anything out of the ordinary that evening, possibly a horse box / large vehicle parked in the area on Tuesday 25th January. This is an extremely disturbing and upsetting incident and we need the public’s help in helping us identify who dumped this unfortunate pony.
A description of the pony is as follows:
- Small
- White in colour
- Black markings on its head and a white nose, black nostrils and black ears
- Black markings on its upper legs
Do you recognise that description? Have you seen a small pony like that in a field in the area that is no longer there? Have you reported a pony as described above stolen?
Councillor John Harrison, portfolio holder for Public Protection, says “We’re urging members of the public to come forward and contact our team to help us trace the people responsible for this upsetting and disturbing incident. Bracknell Forest Council is determined to investigate and prosecute those individuals who feel it’s acceptable to undertake such callous actions. When those responsible are identified the Council will seek to investigate and where appropriate prosecute them. Farmers and horse/pony owners have a legal responsibility to safely and legally dispose of dead farm animals and horses. This is a serious matter, and has implications for the environment and public safety.”
