Support for Vulnerable Against Doorstep Crime

PPP have 7 doorbell cameras, 7 internal chimes and 2 mobile routers which have been funded by Government to install in a vulnerable persons home, to help safeguard them from doorstep crime.

They are also useful for those caring for a vulnerable family member. This enables them to go out shopping etc. in the knowledge that if someone knocks on the door, or their loved one goes wandering, they will have an early warning of someone ringing the doorbell or of them leaving the home.

The two mobile routers enable homes without internet access to use them as well.

They are free of charge and come with funding for up front running costs for a year. After the first year you can keep them or return them, depending on your needs. If you decide to keep them you are responsible for the continued running cost which is circa £30 pa, which enables access to the cloud to download any captured images for the Police to use in any investigation.

PPP will supply them to the resident or in some cases fit them and guide them through the setup process on their phones.

Preferably applicants would need internet access and a smart phone (although we do have two routers) and be familiar with their smart phone, or have a family member who is responsible for them and has access to a smart phone.

Recent testimonials from residents we have provided/installed this equipment:

“An excellent project that has put my mind at ease about callers at my mum’s door. I live in Wales and am now assured that if necessary I can intervene to keep her safe or summon help for her if necessary.”

“A really good idea. I will be able to leave home now in the full knowledge that I will be able to monitor people at the door to keep my wife safe. It’s always been a worry to leave her at home due to her dementia but now this has made life a little less stressful.”

If you would like to apply for either yourself, or a family member please email Malcolm Phillips at Malcolm.Phillips@westberks.gov.uk. Please note the devices we have access to are only available for Bracknell Forest, West Berkshire or Wokingham residents.
