Consumer Awareness

The Consumer Awareness campaign encourages consumers to know their rights when shopping both in person and online. It also informs consumers as to what they should do if they run into issues after purchasing goods, how to complain about defective goods or substandard services and what they need to do if sellers failing to deliver an item they have purchased.

The annual campaign aims to:

  • Raise awareness and understanding with consumers on how to shop wisely, what to look out for, and what to do if things go wrong.
  • Educate consumers on their rights, particularly when shopping from online marketplaces.
  • Empower consumers to seek a remedy if things go wrong.
  • Raise awareness of where consumers can go if they need more advice and help with an issue.

If you need more help contact the Citizen’s Advice Consumer Helpline on 0808 223 1133 where a trained adviser can give you advice over the phone and this will then be reported to your local Trading Standards department. You can also use an online form.
