Age Restricted Products Retail Testing Bracknell Results

Our Trading Standards Officers regularly work with Thames Valley Police and volunteer young people to monitor retailers with regards to the sale of age restricted products.
Products where sales are age restricted:
- Knives
- Alcohol
- Tobacco / Vape Products
- Fireworks
- Lottery
- Games / DVD’s
Did you know it is an offence to sell these products to someone younger than the minimum legal age and for some products it is an offence for somebody below the legal age to try to buy them.
There are also ‘proxy purchasing’ offences for those that are over the legal age but buying alcohol for those underage.
A Underage Sales operation in #Bracknell last month where 6 stores were tested, resulted in 4 stores passing and refusing an underage sale and 2 making an underage sale. The 2 stores which allowed the sale are currently in discussions with PPP and we are considering if further action needs to be taken.
