Cut down on your alcohol intake – even try a dry month!

The long, warm summer nights enjoying a glass of wine, beer, G&T in the garden each night has been great hasn’t it?

Have you stopped to think of how many units of alcohol that has added up to over a day, week, month or the whole summer? Probably many more than you think, almost certainly exceeding the government guidelines of a maximum of fourteen units of alcohol a week.

Maybe it’s time to give your liver a well earned break to recover before the Christmas festivities commence. Cutting down the amount of alcohol you consume or even going sober for a whole month can have so many health benefits too.

Weight loss – Alcohol contains a huge amount of sugar. Reducing your alcohol  intake can help with weight loss.

Clearer head – Waking up each morning without nursing a hangover is definitely a much better way to focus on the day ahead.

Better quality sleep – Falling asleep under the influence of alcohol, does not provide quality sleep as the usual sleep pattern is not followed, so waking up tired and feeling tired all day is a result of a poor sleep pattern.

More energy- A better nights sleep, no hangover , weight loss will definitely result in more energy. This could also encourage a new exercise routine or going back to a sport you used to do and enjoy a while back. This could also play a big part in helping with mental health too.

More money too – The money spent on alcohol could be used to take the family out for the day. Treat yourself to an item you have had your eye on for a while. Save it for a rainy day and we do have a few of those in the UK.

Why not encourage a friend to join you. Why not do it to help a charity of your choice, both of these can be great motivators.
