Reminder of correct PPE for hairdressers, beauticians and other close contact businesses.

Do you work in a close contact industry, such as a hairdressers or beautician?

Are you aware that because of the period of time spent in close proximity to a person’s face, mouth and nose. The appropriate PPE should take the form of a clear visor/goggles AND a Type II face mask. A Type II face mask is a medical face mask. It is made from a protective 3-ply construction. This prevents large particles from reaching the client or working surfaces.

These PPE arrangements should be incorporated into a Covid risk assessment and are therefore a legal requirement under The Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 and The Personal Protective Equipment at Work Regulations 1992.
