PPP Autumn Electric Blanket Testing Showed 76% of Electric Blankets Tested Failed Safety Check . At the end of October and early November PPP officers, in Partnership with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue and with testing from G.E.M.S (SW) Limited, conducted free electric blanket testing for local residents. 76% of the blankets tested failed the test and were recommended not to be used.

Following complaints received from members of the public, trading standards officers have undertaken visits this month to 2 local shops in order to check compliance with the legislation. This resulted in a seizure of 171 illegal vapes from a local shop in Newbury and in Hungerford.
