Earlier this month Trading Standards Officers from the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) conducted underage sales testing for a range of age restricted products including vapes, alcohol and lottery tickets in six different premises in the Bracknell Forest area.

14 March 2024 - Press Release - Property owner convicted for overcrowded HMO

Kalyan Gurung, aged 51, of Deepfield Road, Bracknell, was convicted at Slough Magistrates Court on 12 March 2024, after pleading guilty to operating an unlicensed house in multiple occupation (HMO) under the Housing Act 2004, and four offences under management of HMO regulations.

Crypto scams surged by 23% in the UK in 2023 when compared to the previous year and fraudsters are targeting younger investors with victims losing £10,741 on average, more than any other type of scam.

At the beginning of February, Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) and the Public Protection Partnership (PPP) were made aware by a concerned resident, of a fire extinguisher scam taking place within a mobile home estate with a high proportion of elderly residents in Thatcham. The scammer was cold calling at resident’s mobile homes, advising that by law they required a fire extinguisher within their home and charging £250 to purchase an extinguisher.

27th February 2024 - Has Your Cat Been Microchipped?

As of the 10 June 2024 it will be compulsory to have all cats over 20 weeks of age microchipped. It is estimated that around 25% of cats in the UK are not micro-chipped which means that approximately 2.8 million cats will need to be chipped before the new regulations come into force.
