18th December 2023 - Press Release - XL bully type dogs will be added to the list of banned breeds from the 31st December 2023.

New rules will come into force at on the 31st of December 2023 which will make it illegal to breed, sell, advertise, exchange, gift, rehome, abandon or allow to stray XL Bully type dogs in England and Wales.

An illegal money lender or Loan Shark as they are commonly known, is someone who lends money without having the authorisation from the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to do so. They come in all shapes, sizes, ages, ethnic groups, social backgrounds, and genders, and can include a friend of a friend, a neighbour, work colleague or someone who is part of an organised crime group. It is estimated by the England Illegal Money Lending Team that 1.08 million people are using a Loan Shark in England.

08 December 2023 - Press Release - Rogue Traders handed suspended sentences for fraud and consumer protection offences

On the 6th December 2023 at Reading Crown Court two Bournemouth-based traders appeared for sentencing, after pleading guilty at a previous hearing. Daniel Fidler, aged 31 of Fletcher Road, Bournemouth, was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment for fraud, suspended for 2 years, and ordered to pay £4,000 towards the prosecution’s costs. Also in the dock was Aaron Civil, aged 34 of Grantham Road, Bournemouth, who was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment for consumer protection offences, suspended for 18 months, and penalised with 100 hours of unpaid work requirement plus 20 days of a Rehabilitation Activity Requirement.

Following an investigation by the Shared Trading Standards Service supported by the Joint Case Management Unit, Danny Preece, age 47, a trader residing at Walkers Yard, Eversley Road, Aborfield Cross, entered guilty pleas to one count of Fraud and three counts of Engaging in Unfair Commercial Practice at Reading Crown Court on the 16th October 2023.

24th October 2023 - Press Release – Trader previously sentenced to imprisonment for fraud has £44,132 confiscated under Proceeds of Crime Act 2002

Daniel Fidler, aged 30 from Bournemouth, had a confiscation order made against him at Reading Crown Court on 19th October 2023 ordering him to pay £44,132 under the 2002 Act.
