26th May 2023 - Water safety report

Water safety report. The National Water Safety Forum has published its 2022 national drowning fatality report. There were 226 accidental fatalities in the UK in 2022 and almost half were during June, July and August. Inland waters, such as rivers, canals, lakes, reservoirs and quarries, continue to be the leading locations for accidental drowning, with 60 per cent of deaths. Males continue to be over-represented, with 83 per cent of accidental fatalities.

Check for Unlicensed Ice Cream Traders. Hopefully the sunnier weather will be here soon. And nothing goes better in the sunshine than an impromptu ice cream. As we head into the bank holiday weekend, and hopefully some sunny weather, we’d like to remind residents that we’re aware of some unlicensed ice cream vans operating in our area. They are operating without street trading consent, and worryingly we cannot be sure they are operating with the relevant food hygiene standards in place.
