Electric Blanket Testing. Make sure your electric blanket is safe to use this winter. We are pleased to say our Trading Standards team, in partnership with Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service, are able to offer electric blanket testing at 4 different venues this year.

Smoke and carbon monoxide alarms regulations. Following approval by the House of Commons and the House of Lords, as of 27 June, the Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarm (Amendment) Regulations 2022 are now law. The regulations came into force on 1 October and landlords must be compliant with the requirements set out in the Regulations from that date.

2022 Annual Status Reports for Bracknell Forest, West Berkshire and Wokingham Councils. Part IV of the Environment Act 1995 required all Local Authorities to conduct local air quality reviews. After submitting all 3 Annual Status Reports, within the prescribed timescale, DEFRA have approved the findings of all 3 reports, prepared by the Public Protection Partnership for Bracknell Forest Council, West Berkshire Council and Wokingham Borough Council.

Home Fire Safety Month. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is encouraging residents to reduce the risk of having a fire in the home this September as part of Home Fire Safety Month. To stay safe, residents should ensure they have enough working smoke alarms in their home. In 27% of accidental dwelling fires in England, the smoke alarm failed to operate. Following some simple safety advice can reduce the chance of your smoke alarm failing to operate.
